Announcing: Tasty Thursday

I love cooking. I love it. I didn't always love it, but I sure as hell do now.

As I said earlier today, cooking for one's self - continuing to fuel your body for work and life, making specific decisions about your consumption, giving some direction to its health and functioning - can be a strong statement of independence and feminism. Cooking is a difficult place to mediate for young adults especially - I was completely inexperienced in the art of cooking when I graduated last year, and the transition was glorious but filled with misfires. It's hard to make delicious, simple, and healthy meals. I'm always looking for good recipes, and I love modifying and creating recipes myself.

Every Thursday, I'm going to share an illustrated recipe from my cooking repetoire. Others are welcome to share recipes as well, with one condition: no meat.

I don't think meat-eating is a feminist act, so every recipe will be vegetarian or vegan (switches off on a week-to-week basis). Just because they're vegetarian doesn't mean they will be healthy, though; pleasure can be found and celebrated in many different kinds of dishes. (Watch for a recipe for baked brie in a couple weeks!)

Later today: Garlic Tomato Grilled Cheese

  1. I'm excited for this new addition! And for the garlic tomato grilled cheese. It sounds delicious and grilled cheese is one of my faves! I can't wait to see all the delicious vegetarian recipes from you. Maybe I'll send you my favorite one for grilled veggies...delicious!
